Common Questions & Answers:

Q&A: How many treatments will I need? And how far Apart?

Hijama therapy is not a 'magic pill'.  It will require active participation and engagement on your end.  It is also likely that you will require more than one treatment for maximum effectiveness.  Remember that toxins, stagnation and congestion have been building in your body for your entire life.  For this reason, we have priced our treatments very affordably.  Additional treatments such as Facial Detox may be added A la Carte to any treatment for a minimal additional amount.

You may read more about planning your Hjiamah treatments and The HjiamahWorks Method here.

Q: How many cups do I get in each appointment?

Your practitioner will interview you, conduct an assessment, and then determine the points and number of cups. We have flat rates and do not charge per cup. There are upper limits based on body weight, for safety reasons.

You may read more about our cup maximums policy here. Final discretion at with your practitioner.

Q&A: What Primary Conditions are treated with Hijamah?

There are dozens of treatment lists on the web.  Based on our experience we have summarized what most of our patients come to our clinic for. This is to help you understand if you are an ideal candidate for Hijama:
  • Energy & Sleep Issues
  • Body Pain (Legs, Knees, Back, Shoulder, Neck)
  • Laziness / Fatigue / Adrenal Support

Q&A: How many Cups will be done each treatment?

HijamahWorks has a quantitative and objective assessment process. This is based on your intake form and feedback from your interview, and various physical tests your practitioner may perform.

Your practitioner will review the number of cups and sites before each treatment, and only proceed after reaching a level of comfort that aligns with your goals. There is no upper limit, however it generally does not exceed 10.

Q&A: I'm healthy, can I still get Hijamah?

Absolutely. Like any detox (sauna, juicing, digesting cleanse, etc.) Hijamah can act as a prevention before symptoms surface.

Eventhough its not apparent, most people do suffer some kind of imbalance and this is often surfaced during the intake interview. Often our perceptions of "healthy" are challenged and as your meet and spend time with us, your paradigms will shift and you'll slowly transform for the better, in sha Allah.

In general a person in good health can receive hijamah 2-4x per year, depending on the region of the world. In Canada we have 4 seasons, so getting hijamah done during the season transitions can help support a persons body through the environmental changes.

Q&A: Can sisters have Hijamah during their cycle?

Due to the weakened state of the body and fluctuating hormones, we do not advise hijamah during women's menses cycle unless absolutely critical.

Q&A: I have low iron, can I still do Hijamah? What about other blood issues?

Dry Cupping can absolutely be done. For low iron this would be at the discretion of your practitioner. For other blood issues, hijamah should not be done while taking a blood thinner. If a patient chooses to stop their blood thinner for hijamah, this should only be done under the supervision and consent of their primary healthcare practitioner.

Q&A: Is it Painful? What can I expect during the treatment?

Prepare yourself for a very peaceful and serene experience. Hijamah is a spiritual experience and you will walk away better. Yes there is a degree of discomfort as the blade grazes the surface of your skin. But this lasts for a few moments only and is quickly followed by feelings of lightness, calm, peace and serenity. Many of our patients stand up after the treatment looking brighter and are overwhelmed with feelings of thankfulness (hamd).

"I went for my Hijamah appointment this Friday and it was a wonderful experience. I came with the expectation of curing Candida, which I have been on a cleanse for for 2 months. The last month has been a bit rough and I wasn't as strict so I thought for sure it wouldn't be cured. I had an appointment to check my candida level the day after my Hijamah appointment and I was free of candida! I have no doubts in my mind that the Hijama helped with curing the candida. Thank you so much for everything! Hira was great :)"
