How to get the Most out of your Hijamah Session
We understand that Hijamah can be intimidating especially if it's your first time receiving the treatment. Don't worry - it's a wonderful experience and we are happy to be your guide through your first time. We take pride in being the best service and doing what no-one else is doing.
Here are some guidelines and suggestions of things to do in the days before your treatment, and the best after care recommendations.
Before You Come:
1. Leave your ego at the door and be open to new ideas
2. Spend some time thinking or journaling about where you are in your health journey, and where you want to be.
3. Think about some of the factors in your life which are holding you back. What is within your control to change?
4. In the days leading up to your appointment, eat clean and consciously enjoy drinking water
5. Think of the activities which bring you joy. Ground yourself in positive emotion and self-encouraging words
6. Consider fasting the day before, or the day of your hijamah appointment
7. Set your intention, meaning, pray for your life to change for the better, healing, renewal and rejuventation
8. Avoid eating processed foods, sugary drinks or candy, chocolate, chips, pizza and anything in a box
9. Tell a friend or family member that you are going for hijamah. Be prepared to answer if they ask you why you're going.
10. Attend a congregational prayer service or sermon
11. Take a bath (ghusl) on the day of your appointment and have abolution (wudu) when you arrive
12. Remove or trim any excess hair on the upper back, lower back and neck
13. Consult your primary healthcare practitioner and inform them you are doing wet cupping

After Your Appointment:
1. Rest on the day of your appointment. If possible, avoid a night shift or anything physically strenuous such as heavy lifting
2. Abstain from marital relations 24-48 hours after your appointment
3. In the days following, start each day with a positive affirmation or prayer, stretch, a tall glass of water
4. Eat clean, meaning, hydrate well and avoid processed foods and caffeinated or sugary beverages
5. Seek out mental and emotional recharge, such as prayer, meditation, volunteering, going for a walk
6. Read spiritual texts, poetry, or an old favorite book
7. Set new goals and create plans to enact them into your life
8. You may take a lukewarm shower after 4-6 hours, or the morning after your appointment
9. After bathing, you may apply Polysporin or Black Seed (Kalonji) Oil to the area of cupping. If you are prone to scarring then take a Vitamin E supplement and apply it topically to the area of cupping (continue this each day until the marks are completely gone)
10. Avoid a hot shower or shaving near your cupping sites
11. Reach out to mend broken relationships; reach out to old friends
12. Schedule any medical tests that were suggested by your practitioner
13. Purchase any supplements that were suggested by your practitioner
14. Write a review and share your hijamah story on social media
15. Tell loved ones about your experience and how you felt after
16. If you have low energy or a headache, that's ok. Sometimes it may happen for 2-3 days following a treatment as the body corrects itself. Hydrate well and rest, and don't hesitate to contact your practitioner if it continues.
